Me Stewart Litvack

Both a deep thinker and a pragmatic strategist, Stewart is oriented towards finding solutions to complex problems. Over the years, Stewart has acquired an expansive and profound understanding of the civil aspects of Estate and Trust law.  

Stewart also represents clients in divorces and other related proceedings, as well as disputes pertaining to the incapacity and protective supervision of seniors.

He has developed many strong relationships within the legal community and his advice is often sought by other professionals when dealing with complicated estate or family issues.
 
Stewart sits on the Board of Governors of Tel Aviv University.  He is also vice-chair of the regional board of the Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University (Quebec and Eastern Canada) and chairman of its Governance Committee.  

Stewart has substantial experience pleading before the Superior Court of Quebec and Court of Appeal and has appeared in front of the Supreme Court of Canada.

Me Louis Dessureault 

Louis has a rich understanding of Family Law with a decade of experience in private practice.  Louis’ practice spans every aspect of family law, from international child abduction cases to complex disputes between spouses over alimony and the partition of property owned by trusts or privately-owned companies.

In addition to his practice in Family Law, Louis has also gained significant experience in Trust and Estates litigation, and has given several conferences, including to the AMFP, where he discussed the impact of trusts in the context of family law litigation.

A well-known presence in the family law community, Louis won the honour of the “Les leaders de demain”, family law lawyer of the year awarded by the Young Bar of Montreal in 2012.  Louis also sat on the Family Law Liaison Committee with the Superior Court of the Montreal Bar Association from 2015 to 2018.

Louis has a Bachelors’ degree in law and graduate degrees in tax law and Common Law from the University of Sherbrooke, following which, Louis was admitted to the Bar in 2010.

Louis routinely appears in front of the Superior Court of Quebec and the Court of Appeal and has appeared in front of the Supreme Court of Canada.

Me Stephen Sherman 

Stephen Sherman is a detail-oriented, diligent and hard worker with over 5 years of experience as an attorney. Before joining Litvack Dessureault, Stephen practiced in the ever-changing and dynamic field of Canadian immigration law, assisting people come to Canada on both a temporary and a permanent basis.

Given this area of practice, Stephen is accustomed to adapting quickly, and he knows the importance of generating creative solutions to rapidly evolving situations. Stephen has recently expanded his practice to the areas of family and estate law, which have already evolved into dynamic aspects of his practice.

Stephen prides himself on his effective communication skills and the relationships of trust he develops with clients. Stephen is by nature approachable and calm in the face of adversity, which often proves to be invaluable when dealing with difficult and sensitive issues.

Prior to being admitted to the bar in 2016, Stephen received his Civil Law Degree from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University.

Stephen has spoken at conferences on the subject of immigration law and has given webinars and YouTube presentations on this topic as well.
